In the mid 1950s the people of Minamata, on the coast of the Shiranui Sea, began to notice something wrong with the cats in their town. The cats appeared to be going insane, and were falling into the sea, and dancing and sometimes collapsing and dying.
WHO OR WHAT CAUSED THE DISASTER? :
The Minamata disaster happened because the Chisso Corporation was putting mercury into the Minamata bay. When Chisso Corporation was blamed of being the people that was doing it, the company stopped dumping mercury into Minamata bay. So people would not balm then for have been happening to people in Japan.
